Zone 11 Bowling Association Inc.

Last Friday & Saturday, in cold weather conditions, the Finals of the Grade 3 & 5 Zone Pennants were conducted at Taree Railway and Black Head Bowling Clubs.

In the Threes, Manning Point played their near neighbours Old Bar Beach at Taree Railway, with the Point boys coming out on top, winning the Zone No. 3 Grade title. The Fives saw Taree Leagues take on the Tuncurry Beach side at Black Head, with the Tuncurry Beach men winning a close encounter for the No.5 Grade title.

The Zone congratulates Manning Point & Tuncurry Beach Clubs’ and players’ on their achievements and wishes them luck in the State Finals.

Turning to the Zone Pairs Championships, and an old adage – the game is not over until the last bowl comes to rest – was proven correct in two of the three Pairs Finals conducted last Sunday, 26th June.

The President’s Reserve Pairs Final at Taree Leagues BC saw Terry Phibbs & Bob Granland have a comfortable win over their Tuncurry Beach Club mates, Les Ball & Keith Thomas for the title. The Senior Pairs Final proved the “adage”, when Noel James & Steve Swan won the title against their Tuncurry Beach Club mates, John O’Keefe & Wayne Wright on the last end. The State (Open) Pairs also followed the “adage” when Peter Cassar & Terry Maloney of Harrington BC won the title on the last end from Keeden McGuire & Dylan Riley of Forster.

Irrespective of the weather conditions, excellent bowls was the order of the day in each of the Finals. The Zone congratulates the winners on their achievements and wishes them every success in their games at the State Championships in October at Ettalong Memorial BC.
